Mr. Donald Virl Moore, age 92, of Jonesborough, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 26, 2026.

He was born in Knoxville, Tennessee, on June 4, 1933, to the late Vernon Milton Moore and Lytha Carr Moore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Betty Kelly Moore; son, Terry Virl Moore; twin brother, Ronald Moore; brother Gene Owenby; and several nieces and nephews.

Donald proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service he worked at East Tennessee Natural Gas Company where he retired as a supervisor. Donald was an avid University of Tennessee fan. He was a loving father, talented woodworker, and loved by many.

Survivors include his daughter, Susan Phillips and husband, Hank of Jonesborough; grandson, Joseph Doane of Jonesborough; granddaughters, Jennifer Evans (David) of Saltville, VA, Kristi Lawson (Bill) of Jonesborough, Julie Hawkins (Mike) of Jonesborough, and Megan Richardson (Isaac); special caregivers, Patty Hardon, Trish, Gary and Nell Jones, Phyllis and Buzz Miller, and Debbie Moore; best friends, his dogs, Hope and Sandy.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, April 30, 2026, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Debbie Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service. A Graveside Service will follow at 2:00 PM, at Mountain Home National Cemetery with military honors.

Pallbearers will be Patrick Arthur, Jeremy Jones, Mike Hawkins, Bill Lawson, Caleb Hawkins, Phillips Lawson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Jones, Buzz Miller, and Brian Woodfin.

Special thanks to the VA nurses on C1, C2, ICU and CLC2 for the wonderful care given to Donald.
