In Heaven, there was a stir. The angels had come to God with a request. “Lord,” one said, wings folded respectfully, “we need a storyteller.” “A storyteller?” God asked with a knowing smile. “Yes,” said another. “The children gather and want to hear of Earth and wonder. The elders miss laughter. Even the stars grow quiet. We need someone who can bring joy, imagination, and memory.” God nodded slowly, then closed His eyes for just a moment. “I have the perfect soul,” He said. “His name is Jimmy.” Jimmy arrived in Heaven like he was waking from a long nap on the porch"warm light on his face, the smell of clover in the air. There was no confusion. Only the feeling that he’d been expected. An angel met him by a tree that reminded him of Strawberry Fields. “We’ve heard about you,” she said. Jimmy chuckled. “Hope it was all good.” She smiled. “The stories you told on Earth"those were just the beginning. You’re needed here.” “Needed?” he asked. “To be our storyteller.” He blinked. “You sure you’ve got the right Jimmy? I’m no prophet. Just a sailor with a lot of tall tales.” “Exactly,” she said. “That’s what Heaven needs.” Now, every evening as the golden sky fades into hues no earthly eye could capture, the souls gather near the Tree of Remembrance. Children sit cross-legged in the grass. Angels perch on low branches. Old friends and loved ones settle in close. And Jimmy, with his voice warm like an old radio, begins: “There was this one time"me and my brothers, we found this hollow log out in Strawberry Fields…” Or: “We were anchored off the coast of Greece, and the sea was so clear you could see the fish looking up at you…” Or sometimes: “Did I ever tell you about the camel in Egypt that wouldn’t stop following me? Swore it was cursed"or just lonely…” Laughter floats like music through the air. Memories blend with wonder. Even Heaven, in all its glory, seems a little brighter with Jimmy’s voice echoing across eternity. And every night, God smiles. Because stories"especially the true ones, the ones filled with heart"are sacred.
And Jimmy was the perfect soul to tell them. Rest In Peace
