In Loving Memory of Frances Caroline Odom

August 18, 1945
October 30, 2026

Frances Caroline Odom, lovingly known as “Fran” or “Frannie” to many, but most affectionately as “Auntie,” a name she cherished above all others, peacefully entered the arms of her Lord and Savior on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the age of 81, while sleeping in the comfort of her home in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

Born in Chuckey, Tennessee, Frances devoted more than 30 years of her life to teaching elementary English at Chuckey Elementary School. She had a true passion for education and a special place in her heart for the many children whose lives she touched throughout her career.

Frances was an avid reader, an exceptional cook, and a woman of great wisdom and unwavering faith. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures, especially sitting quietly and watching the cardinals and hummingbirds that visited her yard. Known for her thoughtful advice, warm heart, and caring nature, she had a special way of making those around her feel loved. She was always someone her family could turn to for guidance, a comforting word, or a little reassurance. A devout Christian, she was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Church in Jonesborough.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Odom; her parents, Hobert and Texie Canada Wright Crum; her brother, Ray Crum; her sister, Jean Gaddis; her special great-nephew, Sean Malone; and several beloved aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish her memory are her special great-niece, Brittany Hawkins (David), whom she lovingly raised as a daughter; her cherished great-great-nephew, Kaden Hawkins, of Piney Flats; her brother, Ronnie Crum (Pat), of Mosheim; her nieces and nephews, Tanya Fugate, Patty Church (Johnnie), Dee Dee Malone (Rex) of Chuckey, Jan Darnell (Mike) of Kingsport, Jerrod Crum of Mosheim, Beverly Willis (Gary) of Johnson City, Billy Ray Crum (Carla) and Aaron Hawkins of Johnson City; several beloved great-nieces and great-nephews; her special cousin, BJ White (Bob), of Lee Florida; and her beloved four-legged companions, Bandit and Harley.

Special thanks to her great nephew, Evan Fugate (Jonesborough) for helping take care of her.

Frances leaves behind a beautiful legacy of faith, love, wisdom, and kindness. She was so much more than an aunt to those who loved her. She was a source of comfort, guidance, and unconditional love. Her family will forever treasure the memories they shared, the lessons she taught, and the love she gave so freely.

To many, she was Fran or Frannie, but to those who loved her most, she will forever be their beloved Auntie.

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:21
