Dale Bergeron, 78, of Afton, Tennessee, passed away at home after a brief illness on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.
He was born on August 17, 1948, in Belvidere, Illinois. Dale served proudly in the Navy aboard the USS Enterprise as a Gunner’s Mate in the Vietnam War Era. He worked for many years as a truck driver to support his family. He loved to garden and loved to raise plants and flowers. He loved wildlife, especially birds. Dale spent a lot of time volunteering at Second Chance Horse Farm and the local food bank.
Dale is survived by his children, Tony McDowell, Wisconsin, Cindy Walker (Jamie) of Limestone, Frank Banks (Becky) of Limestone, Kathy Miller (Jason) of Jonesborough, Richard Banks (Anna) of Chuckey; grandchildren, Ben McDowell, Josh McDowell, Jessica Holsclaw, Sean Banks, Ethan Banks, Emma Banks, Brndon Banks; great-grandchildren, Isabella Banks, Cooper Banks; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond Bergeron and Emma Waterstratt; siblings, Harry, Vernon, Louis, Paul, Marlene, and Ken.
A Graveside Service with military honors will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 2, 2026, at Mountain Home National Cemetery. Anyone who wishes to attend the Graveside is asked to meet at the cemetery at 1:45 PM.
