Mr. David Scott Smith, age 77, of Jonesborough, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center on Saturday, September 19, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Elgin, Illinois, on March 5, 1949, to the late Joseph and Gloria Smith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Joel, Daniel and Bradley Smith.
David was an Electrical Engineer for Texas Instruments and consultant at Borla Exhaust Systems. He was a faithful member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church. David had a church bell ministry. He enjoyed live music and loved the outdoors and nature. He loved to travel and going motorcycle riding. One thing about David, he never met a stranger and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his wife, Renea Smith; daughter, Sara Perry (Steven) of Blountville; son, Joshua Smith (Jennifer) of Jonesborough; sister, Linda Smith (Terry) of Eagle, Idaho; grandchildren, Johnny Scott Smith, Hayden Joseph Smith, and Lauren Elise Smith; great-grandson, Sullivan Scott Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Jonesborough United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Vaughn officiating.
