Mrs. Susan C. Womack, age 80, Jonesborough, passed away peacefully Monday, September 14, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center surrounded by the love of her family. She was a remarkably warm, kind, and thoughtful woman whose sweet soul left an unforgettable mark on everyone who knew her.
Mrs. Womack was born on July 14, 1946, in Johnson City, Tennessee, to the late Eugene B. & Ora Phillips Correll.
Susan was a member of Jonesborough United Methodist Church.
She graduated from Jonesborough High School in 1964, where she was a cheerleader and graduated from Lees-McRae College in 1966.
Susan’s entire world revolved around her family and friends; whom she loved fiercely and unconditionally. Her greatest treasure was being a grandmother. Her grandchildren were her absolute pride and joy, and her face lit up with pure happiness whenever they were near.
Her home was the true heart of her family and cooking was her ultimate love language. She took immense joy in feeding people, ensuring that no one ever left her home hungry. Her selflessness, hospitality, and generous spirit turned ordinary gatherings into cherished memories.
Survivors include her daughter, Betsy Womack Smelcer (Michael), Johnson City; grandchildren, Landon Smelcer and Haydon Smelcer; brother, Don Correll, McClellanville, SC; nephew and nieces, Judith Smith (Kevin) Awendaw, SC, Sam Correll (Amber) Prosper, Texas, and Caroline Gebhardt (Nick), Atlanta, Georgia; great-nephews and nieces, Ellie, Harrison, Anna, Jackson, Lilly, Cole, Leo and Beau; and several cousins.
The family will have a private Celebration of Life Service at a later date.
