Dortha Lee West Dykes, 87, passed away during the early morning hours at Four Oaks Nursing home, Jonesborough, TN on September 5.2026 from advanced breast cancer.
Dortha (Dot or Dotti) was born in Johnson City, TN on June 17th, 1939, to the late Leonard West and Flora Elizabeth Maples West. She was the baby of eight children and was a former member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Jonesborough, TN for many years.
Dortha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Robert Lee Dykes (Bob) and several of her siblings.
She is survived by her six children, Rita Baines (Sonny) Piney Flats, TN, Mitzi Garvin, Johnson City, TN, Sandra Williams, Jonesborough, TN, Randy Dykes, Johnson City, TN and twins Larry (Tonya) Bluff City, TN and Gary Dykes, Jonesborough, TN, brothers, Luke West of Gray, TN and Ted West of Augusta, GA, Several grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Dortha was ready to go home, not only to her Lord, but to the family who had gone before her. While we will miss her beyond words, we can find comfort knowing that she is finally home and no longer suffering.
