Mr. Bobby “Bob” Richard Jaynes, age 79, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on October 5, 1946, in Greeneville, Tennessee, to the late Dwight and Elma Olinger Jaynes.
Bob lived a life defined by faith, service, hard work, and love for his family and community. He was a devoted educator, respected teacher, dedicated farmer, and proud United States Army veteran. Throughout his life, he believed in the value of education, hard work, and serving others. He attended Washington College Academy before continuing his education at the University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. Outside the classroom, Bob's heart was always on the farm. Farming and collecting tractors were some of Bob’s greatest passions.
Together with his beloved wife of 55 years, Fran, he opened his home to countless children as devoted foster parents for many years. They lovingly cared for and nurtured numerous children, providing them with stability, encouragement, and the unconditional love every child deserves. Their kindness made a lasting difference in countless lives.
Bob attended Limestone Church of Christ when his health allowed it. He was a man of deep faith, hard work, and service. He will be deeply missed and the example he set will continue to live on in all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to his parents, Dwight and Elma, Bob is preceded in death by his loving wife, Fran Massey Jaynes and a sister, Judy Ann Jaynes.
Survivors include his son, Shawn Richard Jaynes (Loretta); granddaughter, Shauna Destiny Jaynes (Spencer) and their son, Noah, granddaughter, Rebecca Kimberly Tipton (Cory) and their son, Opie; brothers, Leonard “Rex” Jaynes (Levida) and James B. Jaynes; many extended family and friends.
Private Graveside services will be held at Mountain Home National Cemetery.
