Anna Kapoor, age 65, of Johnson City, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was born on June 23, 1960, in Newport, Tennessee, to the late Royal Thomas and Wanda Mae Holloway.
She studied to become a nurse at East Tennessee State University and worked as an R.N. specializing in Oncology. She lived and worked in Johnson City, Tennessee and was an active member of the Oncology Nursing Society, Board Member and chairperson of Wesley Foundation, ETSU, and the Monday Club. She spent many years teaching and mentoring young nurses and was such a strong patient advocate. Anna was extremely proud to have helped start the outpatient Oncology service at the hospital and contributed to many publications. After her retirement she managed her family’s business, Pinecrest Veterinary Clinic.
Anna was an active member of Pathfinder Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Johnson City, where she was also the volunteer secretary of the church. Anna lived a life marked by unwavering faith and a genuine servant's heart. This compassion led to her and her husband Karl, being awarded the Leaders in Christian Service award by Milligan University.
In her spare time, Anna found joy in life's simple blessings. She loved tending her garden, reading, watching the birds, cooking, knitting, and traveling.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Dr. Karl Kapoor; son, Dr. Nathan Kapoor (Amber) of Bloomington, IL; daughter, Sarah Kapoor of Limestone, TN; granddaughters, Cora Kapoor and Marie Kapoor of Bloomington, IL; sister, Julia Brady of Newport, TN; brother, Russell Holloway of Newport, TN.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, June 20, 2026, at First United Methodist Church (FUMC), 900 Spring Street, Johnson City. The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, prior to the service.
Donations to honor her memory may be given to ETSU Wesley Foundation, FUMC Capital Funds or other, Mexico Medical Mission where Anna participated on numerous mission trips, Brothers Keeper of Johnson City, or Heifer International.
The family is grateful for the support and care of friends, Drs. Cook, Salvador, and Missick, and staff and medical care teams at JCMC and Vanderbilt.
