Gail (McCulley) Morefield, 62, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, surrounded by family and friends after a nine-year battle with cancer.
Born on March 1, 1964, in Rome, Georgia, Gail was known for her vivid personality, adventurous spirit, and gift for connecting with people. On December 18, 1981, she married the love of her life, and together they shared more than forty-four years of adventure, laughter, and a life lived fully together.
As the wife of a United States Coast Guardsman, Gail had a gift for planting roots wherever they landed, immersing herself in each new community and making lifelong friends at every stop. As a hairdresser, she helped people not only look their best but recognize their own beauty, confidence, and value - often seeing something special in others before they could see it in themselves.
Gail loved bringing people together, whether hosting holiday meals, planning parties, meeting at a favorite brewery, or setting off on a new adventure. She approached life with enthusiasm, curiosity, and quick, irreverent humor, and she left people feeling better than she found them.
She is survived by her husband and partner in adventure, Mike Morefield; her siblings, Roy McCulley, Rhonda Provine, Kim Walston, and Art McCulley; and countless friends whose lives were enriched by knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Dovie McCulley; her sister, June Williams; and her infant brother, Michael McCulley.
In accordance with Gail's wishes, there will be no funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to gather and remember a remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, food, cards, or messages, Gail would have preferred that you raise a glass with friends, make a new memory, or perform an act of kindness in her honor.
Gail was full of life, kind, fun, beautiful inside and out, the best hairdresser I’ve ever known. She was a wonderful neighbor and even more fun and kind friend. I have many wonderful memories of all the laughs we shared. She loved Mike to pieces. He was her person bar none. She fought a hell of a fight and did it without changing anything about the wonderful person she was. We will miss her and keep Mike and her family in our thoughts and prayers. Rest easy now my friend.
