
Mr. Charles Anthony Burgin, Sr., age 83, Jonesborough, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2026, at his residence.
Mr. Burgin was born in Morganton, North Carolina, on May 16, 1942, to the late Frances Burgin Fredell. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Markus Mace, sisters, Donna Fredell and Barbara Tallent, and his second wife, Karen Burgin.
Charles was also known as Tony. For many loved ones, he was affectionately known as The Dough or Dough Belly.
He was a master in drywall as well as most areas of construction. He was a collector of many things, especially coins and stamps. He loved his variety of pig figurines, large and small. He had an eye for quality and was proud of that.
Surviving are his first wife, Martha Hoilman Burgin; son, Charles Burgin Jr and his wife Kerry, daughter, Anne Hagan her husband, Doug, daughter, Renee Walker and her husband Mark, son, Alan Burgin and his wife Debbie, son, Kirk Burgin and his wife Hallie, son, Randy Burgin and his wife, Christy; grandchildren, Martha Rosenbaum, Travis Rosenbaum, Brandon Burgin, Ashley Burgin, Katie Burgin, Tricia Burgin, Maggie Burgin, Tony Tolley, Michael Burgin, Kirk Burgin Jr, Cassie Burgin, Dawson Burgin, Matt Wicker, Josh Wicker; sixteen great grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren; siblings, Rev James Gallion, Juanita Xavier, Sharon Rose Dale, Elizabeth Patton, Rev Paul Mace Jr, and Rev Allen Fredell.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 PM, Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Fredell officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday prior to the service.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, January 9, 2026, at Oak Hill Cemetery, Johnson City.
