Larry Dean Cox, age 88, of Jonesborough, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on December 12, 2025. Surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and friends who were family, he passed peacefully at his home.


Larry was a devoted Christian, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather and a man whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service. He spent many years as a regional manager where he was respected for his leadership and strong work ethic. After retiring, he devoted his life to teaching and continuing to worship and serve our lord.


Family and Jesus were everything to Larry. He cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren, whether tending his garden, working on the farm, or reading his Bible. Known for his joyful spirit, Larry loved to laugh, tell jokes, and share his priceless facial expressions that brought smiles to everyone around him. His warmth, humor, and steadfast faith left a lasting impression on all who knew him.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Christine Cox; his parents, Leland and Sarah Cox; his brother, Bob Cox; his sister, Jane Payne; and his uncle, Hobart Beals.


He is survived by his children: Jessica Landers (Brandon), Brittany Cox (Zack), Lewis Cox (Candi), Lisa Wear (Wade), David Cox, Susan Love (Gene), and Becky Hall (Louie); his grandchildren: Eily Cox, Gracyn Landers, Oliver Miller, Taylor Wear, Lindsay Wear, Meghan Love, and Emily Love; great grandchildren: Lukas Wear, Jasper Givens, and EmMareigh Givens; and his siblings, Jack Cox and Judy Morrow. He is also remembered fondly by extended family, friends, and his church family.


Services will be held at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home in Jonesborough, Tennessee, on Wednesday, December 17. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 p.m. The service will be officiated by his pastor, Dr. Lester Morelock.


Larry’s legacy of faith, love, laughter, and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.
