Mildred Ellen Dunbar Snapp passed away peacefully at home on November 30, 2025. She was a proud 89 years old.
Mildred was born on May 27, 1936, in the South-Central Community to the late Texie Dunbar Laws. She lived her early life surrounded with lots of doting family. She was preceded in death by Uncle Harry and Aunt Minnie Dupes, two very close and special people in her life; her husband of 64 years, Rhea “Brother” Snapp; brothers, Eddie Laws, (Janice), and David Laws; Lois Broyles, her best friend that was greatly missed.
Mildred was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Limestone, Tennessee. She and “Brother” devoted much time and work to the church. She loved singing in the choir and teaching her women’s class. She was a faithful member until her health prevented her from attending church regularly.
She is survived by her children, Ronnie Snapp, Limestone and special friend Carol Whaley; Robin Snapp, Charlotte, NC; sisters, Doris Evelyn Bowles and Doris Townsend; many nieces and nephews with special honor to Jerry and Joan Hensley, Tim and Shelby Humphrey and Tammy and Doug Shaw.
Mildred attended South Central Elementary and was a 1954 graduate of Washington College Academy. She was a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood. On December 11, 1954, she scored 42 points against Greeneville High School. This is a school single game points record that still stands today. The final winning score, 58-34. She was also a talented softball player. Her fast-pitching skills were dreaded by many opponents at the plate. She remained an avid sports fan for the entirety of her life. Time stood still for TN Vols men and women sports. Her beloved Atlanta Braves were equally important. They were on a first name basis.
Mildred was employed by Greeneville Light & Power. She loved the people of Greeneville. It was her honor serving them for 37 years. She took great pride in knowing most at first sight. The personal interaction was a great fuel for her happiness.
Cooking for friends and family was a task that brought great joy. She loved having dinner parties. “the more the merrier”. Baking was a passion. She would bake and “Brother” would take. Anyone lucky enough to receive her delectable offerings definitely had a better day. The smell of sour dough bread will always bring a memory associated with love.

I knew Mildred by working with her during county elections, at Conklin School. We had such good times just talking and mostly laughing. I will always remember her as fun to be with and ejoying life as it was them. She will always be remembered and loved.❤️♥️

Dear Robin and Ronnie and Family,
So sorry for your loss. I remember our elementary days at West View and your Mom was a room mother and all the fun parties that we had on the holidays. I also have to say that Brother Rhea came to our home after we moved to Telford TN. He did some electrical work several times and we appreciated his detail to getting the job done correctly. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Sandra Kyker Holt
Mildred was a beautiful person inside and out, she will for sure be missed, always a friendly smile and much love shown to everyone she met. Prayers to Robin, Ronnie and the rest of the family
