Mr. Matthew K. Carter, age 66, of Johnson City, passed away at the Waters of Johnson City on Monday, September 29, 2025.

He was born on April 29, 1959, in Alexandria, Virginia to the late Frank and Clara Carter.

Matthew was the most giving person. He cared for numerous people over the years but took extraordinary care of his parents throughout their lives. Matthew would never pass up an opportunity to do something for others. He was and continues to be so loved and will be deeply missed.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

He is survived by his loving sister, Cindy Sparks; who was often mistaken as his twin, since only one year separated them. Matthew is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

A private graveside service was held on Thursday, October 8, 2025, at Fairview Cemetery.
