Ms. Doris Janette Groos, age 88, of Jonesborough, passed away on June 18, 2025, at NHC in Kingsport.

She was born on October 5, 1936, to the late Bose David and Ada May Bair, in Jonesborough, TN.

Doris was a great storyteller with a deep sense of community and loved making connections with people. Her faith was a deep part of her identity; Doris loved the Lord and was a proud member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was a bookkeeper for First Tennessee Bank and Washington County Farm Bureau.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brother, Jack Bair, sisters, Vivian Littleton, and Evelyn Tester.

Survivors include her son, Phil Groos (Celecia) of Powell, TN; grandchildren, Maegan Mupesewa (Anyway) of Zimbabwe, Sara Hobbs (Andrew) of Salt Lake City, Utah; great-grandchildren, Ruvy, Judah, Evy Mupesewa, and Abel Hobbs; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Graveside Services will be held at 12:00 PM, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Maple Lawn Cemetery with Chaplain Phil Groos officiating. Everyone who plans to attend is asked to meet at the cemetery at 11:45.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

I met Janette when we both worked at Farm Bureau. She was very friendly and kind. We visited at her house, went out to eat together with other Farm Bureau friends. We moved and lost touch. It was a pleasure to of known Janette, she was a wonderful person and a true lady.
