Mellissa Louise Dugger, age 67, of Jonesborough, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at her daughters’ residence.

She was born on March 13, 1958, to the late Commie and Lela Dugger.

Mellissa was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

In addition to her parents, Mellissa was preceded in death by her spouse, Glen Whittemore; brothers, Jimmy Dugger and Ronnie Dugger (Sondra); sister, Teresa Birchfield.

She is survived by her daughter, Joni Hatton (Joe); grandchildren, Taylor (Tra), Chasity (Dana) and Levi (Ashley); six great grandchildren; brothers, Jeff Dugger and Michael Dugger (Deana); several nieces and nephews; and best friend of 32 years, Debbie Higgins (Joe); step-children, Curtis Glenn Whittemore and Tammy Kay Whitehead.

It was Mellissa’s wish to not have a formal funeral service. There will be a Celebration of Life and burial at Dugger Cemetery in Jonesborough at 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Melissa was My Best Friend for 32 yrs. She was the Best Friend God could have ever gave me. Joni, I am so sorry for the Loss of your Wonderful Moma. She Loved you so very much. You have Always been such a Wonderful Daughter taking Care of Both parents when they were sick. Melissa will be in my heart All the Days of My Life as I know she will always be in your heart Joni. Your Mom and Dad are now Reunited in Heaven. I Love you All so very much and if there is ever anything I can ever do to help you in anyway please let me Know. Your Moma Loved you so much Joni, You have always been such a Wonderful Daughter to both your Parents and they will be watching over you Always. I Love you All so very much. Lord Be with us All as we Say Good Bye to Melissa but just for a little while, Until We Meet Again in Heaven. I Love You Joni dearly and I am so sorry for the Loss of your Wonderful Moma. I Will Miss her Always. And Forever Miss My Dear Wonderful Best Friend.
