
Mr. Roger Dale Shelton, age 77, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025, at James H. Quillen VA Medical Center.
Mr. Shelton was born June 6, 1947, in Unicoi, Tennessee, to the late Ralph & Virginia Phillips Shelton. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Elsie Mae Shelton, sons, Mike and Dale, and brother, Vincent “Pappy” Shelton.
He surrendered his life to the Lord five years ago.
Mr. Shelton was a United States Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War.
He was the former Manager of the Washington County Co-op Tire Shop, retiring after 40 years of service.
Mr. Shelton was a member of the Jonesborough VFW Post 9724, where he served as Post Commander. He was a D.J. for local clubs. He enjoyed sitting on the front porch in his rocking chair waving at friends.
Survivors include his children, Teresa Rankin, Telford and Tammy Shelton, Greeneville; grandchildren, Katie (Matthew), Adam, Clorissa (A.J.), and Aireal (Corey); great-grandchildren, Nolan, Ethan, Willow, Phoenixx, Kida, Xander, Zeke and Zarah; brothers, Mike Shelton (Debbie), Carson Shelton (Barbara) and Chuck Shelton; sisters, Katrina Bowen (Terry) and Kris Combs.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at the Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home and all other times at his home. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 PM Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Jim Griffith officiating.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.

I worked with Roger Shelton for 30 years. He was a good honest man. God doesn't make any better. My condolences to his family. He will be missed.
