Mrs. Betty Jo Farmer, age 93, Shelbyville, TN, passed away Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the Carriage House in Shelbyville.

Mrs. Farmer was born on February 3, 1932, in Mount Vernon, KY, to the late Grant & Bertha Mae Cummins Banks. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Farmer, brothers, Ed Banks, Homer Banks, and Grant Banks, Jr. and two sisters, Irene Lewis and Jean Browning.

She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

Mrs. Farmer was Principal at St. Mary Catholic School, taught at Cherokee Elementary School for 34 years, and also taught in the Washington County and Johnson City School System.

Survivors include three children, Harold David Farmer and his wife Tina, of Fort Worth, TX, Brenda Dunn Kairot and her husband Jon, of Johnson City, and Teresa Teaff and her husband Bob, of Shelbyville, TN; four grandchildren, Robert Farmer, Ronnie Lynn Dunn, Candice Barnwell and Ben Sams; six great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.

Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 PM, Friday April 25, 2025, at Monte Vista Burial Park with Col. Robert M. Farmer officiating.

The Pallbearers will be Rick Sweeney, Dewey Burdine, Ben Sams, Ronnie Lynn Dunn, Kelly Banks, Zack Dunn and Bob Teaff.
