
Mrs. Barbara Kay Dykes Miller, age 66, Johnson City, passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025, at her residence.
Mrs. Miller was born June 22, 1958, in Jonesborough, Tennessee, to the late Syrl Eugene Dykes & Mary Kate McCurry Dykes. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Wayne Miller, and one brother, Ricky Dykes.
Barbara retired from the James H. Quillen VA Medical Center as a CNA.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church of Johnson City.
Barbara loved fishing, swimming, and going to yard sales.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Surber and Jimmy Lee Vance, both of Johnson City; three step-children, Shay Medina, Mary Lichtenstine, and Gary Miller (Tabitha); nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; four sisters, Cathy Conway, Wanda Walker, Ann Malone and Tammy Roberts; two brothers, Billy Dykes (Rhonda) and Terry Dykes; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Eddie Miller (Lisa) and Bobbie Miller; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Gentiva Hospice and Dr. William Clever for all the love and care shown to Barbara.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:30 PM, Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at Monte Vista Burial Park.

She was an amazing woman who had love for everybody she ever met. She definitely loved her kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. She will be very missed.
I worked with Barbara for many years . She was amazing and a great lady! I loved Barbara, she will be missed.
