Ms. Rita Jean Spears, age 65, of Johnson City, passed away at the Johnson City Medical Center on Sunday, December 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on October 7, 1959, to the late William and Dorothy Blankenship Ambrose.

Rita graduated from Draughons College with a computer degree and went on to work for over twenty years for the Johnson City Medical Center as a clerical associate. She loved movies and hiking, especially at Bays Mountain. Rita was a wonderful mother, sister, and friend. She was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jason David Spears.

Those left to cherish her memory are her loving son, Travis Spears; sister, Sandra Ambrose; brothers, Bobby Ambrose and Gary Ambrose; grandchildren, Katelyn Spears, Jordan Spears, Keana Roberts; best friend, Beatrice Harris; special former daughter-in-law, Jennifer Spears and her son, Cayden Wright; mother to two of her grandchildren, Amy Roberts; her special dog, Lexi.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Greg Salyer officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, prior to the service. A Graveside will follow the service at Maple Lawn Cemetery.
