Mrs. Edith H. Treadway, age 78, of Jonesborough, passed away at her home on Friday, December 27, 2024.

Edith was born on June 16, 1946, to the late Cloyd and Ida Tarlton Hensley, in Jonesborough, Tennessee.

She retired from the Johnson City Eye Clinic after many years of service. Edith loved to sing gospel music, read, and garden. She attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church until her health no longer allowed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Clarence Wilson; brothers, Russell Hensley, Raymond Hensley, Glenwood Hensley and Marvin Hensley; special sister, Maudie Nadine Garland known as “Sally Kate”; also, several siblings who passed away at an early age.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, John E. Treadway III; brother, Theodore Hensley; special nieces, Karen Painter, Kathy Seaton, Juanita Tittle, Tammy Buck Whitlock; several additional nieces and nephews; special friends and caregivers, Tim & Brenda Carver, Sandra Hipshire and Melissa Leake.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, January 3, 2025, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Dykes officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 PM, Friday prior to the service. Graveside Services will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim Carver, Jesse Hipshire, Greg Leake, Hobie Arrowood, Cleave Painter and Shane Hutchinson.

Miss Edie you will be missed my friend. I always loved hearing all the old JCEC stories when you came in the clinic. You are up in heaven with all our other dear co worker's we miss. Give Dr Johnson a big hug up there! Love you my friend!

I am sorry to hear the passing of Edith. I was her neighbor when she lived in Jimtown. I have many fond memories from growing up together. She was always a strong Christian friend.
