Ralph was one of the nicest men I had the honor to know. I knew of Ralph before I actually met him in person. I went all through school (elementary & high school) with Terry. I met Ralph when I worked at Hamilton Bank in Jonesborough. After I told him I went to school with Terry, we were fast friends. We always had a hug and an “I love you” every time we saw each other. We often had a meal together and when he met Larry, they immediately talked of people in common. When he found out that Larry was related to the Wards in Bowmantown, Larry also got the hugs and the (I love you) too. That’s just how Ralph was. So kind, so genuine and so down to earth. We will miss you, Ralph
Ralph was one of my favorite customers while I worked at the Washington Farmers Co-op. He was always cheerful and friendly. I liked to see him come in the door in his overalls.

So sorry for your loss. Ralph will truly be be missed. But he much better place with Jesus and family. Prayers and love for all. ❤️
My memories of Ralph and Joy go all the back to my birth. They were there all my childhood life, loving me, certainly spoiling me, and sitting beside me at church.
Ralph sang bass in our choir and I always loved to hear how low his voice could get. He loved music, laughing, eating with friends. I’ll never forget his strong hands that gave me strong hugs.
Ralph was a fun and helpful neighbor in our community. I’m thankful that he got to live his life fully all the way until the end. I know he was ready to go be with Jesus, who he loved and served, and Joy and Terry who were the light of his life.
Ralph was such a good man. Always smiling and never had a harsh word toward anyone. But I'm thinking about what a reunion he is having with Joy and Terry. It's been so long since they have been together.
Heaven has gained a good man.
A dear friend forever. He was the neighbor that all people want. Giving, helping at whatever task presented. He and Larry Murphy were close friends. He taught Larry how to build fence and farm in general. He will be remembered for his many kindnesses. God Bless him. Rest in peace.

Shortly after moving into the little brick house just up the road from Ralph, I came home from work to find him in my backyard. He was riding his big blue tractor, plowing space for a garden. When he was done he came by and introduced himself, and for the next couple decades Ralph and that big blue tractor plowed my garden about every year.
That’s just one of the hundreds of kind things Ralph did for me, and for everyone in the community. Such a generous and kind soul.
