Sandra Gail Slark, age 72, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer.
Sandy was born in Johnson City, Tennessee on February 1, 1952, to the late Lawrence and Wanda Luttrell. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her devoted husband of 31 years, Wayne Slark, and her brother Ronnie Luttrell.
To honor her memory, Sandy leaves her two sisters, Cathy McCoy (Joe) and Beth Tipton (Scott), her children, Buffey Rogers (John), Tonya Greenwell, Hannah (Ryan), Haley, and Cameron Smith. She also leaves 3 grandchildren, Cody (Andrea), Hunter (Halie), and Layton Smith; 2 great grandchildren, Alaya & Palmer Preciado; several nieces and nephews, her special friend Maria Conkin (Ray) and many others, and her two beloved Pomeranians, Oliver and Lacy.
Sandy will be remembered for her many talents. She loved baking her famous cookies. In addition to baking, she also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and sharing her creativity with everyone.
She was a selfless, kind, and virtuous woman who will be dearly missed by everyone that knew her.
Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 PM, Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Friends may come by to sign the register and view from 10:00 am Saturday until service time.
Pallbearers will be Cody Preciado, Hunter Preciado, Cameron Smith, Layton Smith, John Rogers and Ryan Mumpower. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe McCoy, Tyler McCoy, Scott Tipton and Jeremy Tipton.
We would like to thank the staff at Holston Valley Medical Center especially ICU, 4th and 5th floor med surg, Dr. BJ Earls, Laura from palliative care, her primary care doctor April Ollis, her oncologist Dr. Chakraborty, Sullivan County EMS, Tammy Cloyd and Bethany Stubblefield, for their wonderful loving care given to Sandra.
We will be wearing pink to honor Sandy if you would like to participate.
Sandy was always sweet to me. I cherish all the holidays we shared! Prayers to all the family.

My sincere condolences to Cathy and Beth. Sandy was a beautiful person inside and out with a beautiful smile on her face everytime I would see her. Sandy will be missed by all who knew her. She fought a hard battle but God needed her now to be with her family in heaven.
My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I met Sandy while working at Sam’s club in Johnson City. She was a very sweet person.. We always carried on a conversation, especially about her family..
