Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Services

Daniel David Edens

11/11/2024

Mr. Daniel David Edens, age 60, Telford, entered the arms of Jesus and was reunited with his father Monday, November 11, 2024.

Mr. Edens was born on December 23, 1963, in Johnson City, Tennessee to Judy Markwood Edens of Telford and the late Richard Lee Edens, Sr.

He attended Abounding Grace Baptist Church.

Mr. Edens retired from the Town of Jonesborough and was a Funeral Assistant for Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. If there was a word that defined Danny Edens, it would be service. Starting with his service to our country in the U. S. Air Force, continuing to his service to Jonesborough Water Department for over 25 years, serving in churches he attended, serving on the Washington County Commission for over 16 years and being part of the first three generational legacy serving consecutive years. Continually being the stronghold for his family and living every breath for his six grandchildren, never missing a single game, performance, or moment of their life. Service, that’s what he did, it’s who he was.

If you needed advice from Danny, he would be telling you things like “put your phone away” “spend every moment you can with your family,” “find a way to serve others, “but the biggest thing he would tell you is to “give it to God and let Him lead.” The world will be such a different place without him, but that’s how his family will be moving forward, by giving it to God and letting him lead. Danny lived his life to serve others and to do everything for everyone. If you ever wanted to do something in honor of Danny or to help his family, give your life to God, let Him lead and let go of what you can’t control. Not only will he be proud of you, but that’s the way you’ll see Danny again in glory.

In addition to his mother, left to cherish his memory, wife of 40 years, Kelly Gillin Edens; son, Joshua Edens (Ashley); daughter, Sarah Murray (Chase); grandchildren, Leah, Luke, Landree Edens, Titus, Tristan and Trenton Murray; mother-in-law, Paula Davis (Norman), brother, Richard Edens, Jr. (Rhonda); niece, Jordan Richards (Matt); nephew, Adam Edens (Katie); special Uncle, Terry Edens; sister-in-law, Sheri Kelley (Mike); and several cousins and extended family.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the 3rd and 5th floor nursing staff at Holston Valley Hospital, namely Kailyn, Sam, Tristan, Trey, Dr. Christine Fields, and nurse Katherine at Vanderbilt Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 4:00 PM, Sunday, November 17, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Edens, Pastor Chase Murray and Pastor Marty Murr officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-4:00 PM Sunday prior to the service.

Interment services will be conducted 10:00 AM Monday, November 18, 2024, at Mountain Home National Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Edens, Jr., Adam Edens, Mark Ferguson, Matt Richards, Scotty Lacey, Mike Gillen, Greg Cloyd and Clinton Little. Junior pallbearers, who will lead the way, oldest grandsons, Luke Edens and Titus Murray. Honorary pallbearers, Josh Howard, Jacob Howard, Aiden Cannon, Caleb Murr and the Men’s Sunday School Class at Abounding Grace.

Danny you will be missed beyond words. You are one of the kindest, most patient people. You coached my middle son in baseball aLeah’s making him feel confident and worthy. You always went out of your way to say hello, and ask about the family… even long after you coached Blake. Some of the things I admire most about you is your service to Jesus and the love you have for your family. It was clear to me as soon as I met you, how much your family means to you. I will be praying for them during this time of transition.
