Mr. Jack Bragg, age 86, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2024, at his residence.

Mr. Bragg was born in Marytown, West Virginia on June 30, 1938, to the late Otho Jackson Bragg, Sr. and Frances Ann Joyce Bragg.

He proudly served in the 82nd Airborne Division of the United States Army and then started his teaching career at Happy Valley High School. He spent most of his career as a teacher and football coach at Unicoi County High School retiring in 2009.

Mr. Bragg was a Farrier and had a passion for shoeing horses, history and hunting, but above all his greatest passion and pride was for his family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Judith Ann Decker Bragg, Jonesborough; daughter, Jill Waters (James), Sulphur Springs; grandchildren, Rachel Cox (Travis) Fall Branch, Elizabeth Saylor (G.W.), Greeneville, James “Mathew” Waters (Keira), Boones Creek and Thomas Waters, Fall Branch; great-grandchildren, Kya Cox, Enzlee Cox, Nola Cox, Atley Cox, Kennedy Waters, Kallan Waters, and Kydaan Waters; and many friends that have become family.

Special thanks to the many loving and caring caregivers he has had the past couple of years. A special thanks to Bo, Barb, Kaitlyn, Daniel, and Jarrod for their love and compassion. A very special thanks to Lisa Cohn as she showered him with love, care, and compassion in his final months. Also, a great thanks to the Amedisys Hospice Team.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Mr. Bo Swiger (his dear friend) officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm Wednesday prior to service. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Waters, James “Mathew” Waters, Thomas Waters, Travis Cox, Craig Kellner, and Rico Vaquero.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the flood relief efforts for Northeast TN in his honor. Erwin and Unicoi held a special place in his heart.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had Coach Bragg for a teacher in the 1980s. He was a good man. He was kind and caring. He made a difference in my life. I loved him dearly. I loved listening to his stories. I learned so much from him. He will be missed. Love and prayers for his family.
