Jack Aiken
11/07/2024
Mr. Jack Aiken, age 58, passed away on Thursday November 7, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center. He was born on February 4, 1966, to the late Sam and Ernestine Aiken and was a lifelong resident of the Bowmantown community.
Jack loved the Lord and gospel music, his family, his friends, and working with cattle. Jack started going to cattle sales with his dad at a very young age and fell in love with cattle sales, auctioneering, and buying cattle. He graduated from the Missouri Auction School at the age of 15 but his true passion in life, other than family, was buying cattle. He was a Respected livestock dealer throughout the Southeast. He loved working with his family on the farm, hauling cattle, any kind of get-together, his dog Jake, but Jaelyn and Jurnee were his biggest pride and joy. He would stop whatever he was doing to spend time with them, from 4-wheeler rides, vacations, or taking them to eat.
He loved his church family dearly at Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he was a lifelong member.
Jack enjoyed life and would find a way to make everyone laugh and have a good time. He was notorious for creating a unique nickname for friends and acquaintances.
He dealt with numerous health issues primarily as a result from diabetes but always maintained a positive attitude. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the many doctors and healthcare professionals who cared for Jack through the years.
He is now home with the Lord and many friends and family with no pain or suffering. While we will miss him dearly, this gives us peace and comfort.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, Jim; Mother-in-Law Glenda Bird; and niece Kayla Cody.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 34 years LeAnn Aiken; son, Justin and wife Haley; Jaclyn and future son-in-law Sam Davis; granddaughters, Jaelyn and Jurnee Aiken. Brothers Jerry Aiken (Priscilla) and Jeff Aiken (Carol); Father-in-Law Bobby Bird; Brother-in-Law Todd Bird (Kim); several nieces and nephews.
A Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, November 11, 2024, at Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church with Pastor David Reece, Pastor Dale Mitchell, and Pastor Kevin Wisecarver officiating. A Graveside will follow the service at Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor Sam Smith officiating.
Pallbearers will be Mark McNeese, James Aiken, Zach Baskette, Todd Stone, Chad Fleenor, Jason Bailey, Randy Hodge, and James Brantley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be, Jimmy Guinn, Sam Brackins, Todd Davis, Congregation of Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Cattle Sale Barn and Cattle Show friends, and Friends from Oakmont (Their Summer Vacation spot)
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, at Diabetes.org, Tennessee Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation, at your county Farm Bureau office, or Oakland Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
