Mrs. Betty J. Jenkins, age 91, Johnson City, passed away at her home on Friday, November 8, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on February 18, 1933, to the late Bryan and Eula Wheelock in Kimball, West Virginia.
Betty married her high school sweetheart Ralph Jenkins and they were married for 46 years before his death in 1995. She worked at Daniel Boone High School for 46 years, where she served in many capacities. She was the oldest member of Buffalo Ridge Baptist Church, where she played the organ for 70 years.
Being with her family is what made her the happiest. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandkids play and coach various sports. She also loved listening to their musical talents and hearing her grandson Jody preach. Betty enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed going to the beach.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, and her sister, Gladys Davis.
Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jerry (Teresa) and Jaymie (Tonya); grandchildren, Jeremy (Lori), Jody (Becky), Josh (fiancée, Desiree), Jaclyn, Jaycie, Jayden; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Judson, Josie, Jaylin, Joy, and Jessa Jenkins.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 PM, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation with Jody Jenkins officiating.
The Graveside Service will be held at 10:00 AM, Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at Monte Vista Burial Park. The family will meet at the graveside.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Jenkins, Jody Jenkins, Josh Jenkins, Jackson Jenkins, Judson Jenkins, Dean Baggett, Tim McGonigle, Colby Backus.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Kristen, Joyce, and Allie (Hospice) for how they loved and cared for Maw.

Betty was a great woman. She definitely will be missed. May god be with the family during this time of need.
Betty and I have been friends for 63 years, I love to hear her play the organ and sing. She always had a way of making you laugh. She is in Heaven now in the presence of God, nothing is better than that.
