Mr. Charlie M. DeFreece Jr., passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Charlie was born on March 30, 1950, and grew up in the Bloomingdale Community. He graduated from Ketron High School in 1968, where he was a member of the marching band, playing the trumpet. In his early years he was an accomplished trumpet player in multiple bands.

Charlie was an auto salesman in various parts of the country until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan. Especially a lifelong fan of the Pittsburg Pirates, where he attended many games over the years with his brother and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Charlie DeFreece Sr. and mother, Mary Ruth DeFreece.

Survivors include sisters, Carolyn Layne, Shelby Greear, Brenda Doran; brother, Gary DeFreece; several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and a great nephew; a host of caring friends.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice, especially his nurse DeShea for their loving care.

Per his wishes there will be no service. Charlie donated his body to Quillen College of Medicine, to help in furthering the education of others.
