Lila Ann Apgar, aged 88, passed away on September 10, 2024, in Jonesborough, TN. Born on September 21, 1935, Lila was a respected figure in her professional field and cherished member of her community.

Lila graduated from Bethlehem Central High School before pursuing higher education at Russell Sage, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1957. She furthered her education at Rutgers University, obtaining a Master of Library Science in 1974. Her academic pursuits paved the way for a successful career as a Technical Librarian, where she contributed significantly at Mobil Chemical and American Cynamid.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Lila was a dedicated volunteer at the Johnson City Medical Center. Her passion for gardening, reading, and watching nature and animal shows reflected her love for the environment and its creatures. Lila's commitment to her hobbies and volunteer work was a testament to her kind and nurturing spirit.

Lila was preceded in death by her husbands, John Mackinnon and George Apgar. She is survived by her daughters, Jean Feola and Ann Mackinnon, and her grandson, Ian Hamerlinck, who will all hold dear the memory of her loving and thoughtful nature.

Lila's life was marked by her dedication to her family, her career, and her community, leaving a lasting impact on everyone she encountered. Her legacy will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at 2:00 PM at St John's Episcopal Church in Johnson City.
