Mrs. Freda Byers, age 85, Gray, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the home of her son and daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Byers was born in Washington County, Tennessee on April 30, 1939, to the late Bob & Myrle Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James “Jim” David Byers, Sr, and a sister, Joyce Hall.
She was a longtime member of Hales Chapel Christian Church.
Freda was a homemaker, an avid quilter and loved to cook, sharing her meals with family, neighbors, and church family. Known for her special desserts, she was always asked to bring them to family and church gatherings.
She enjoyed traveling and was ready at a moments notice. Mamaw Freda, as she was loving called by Aleah and Abbi, shared her love of rhinestone art and they will cherish these memories forever.
Survivors include her son and wife, Jimmy & Cathy Byers, of Gray; grandson and wife, David & Beverly Byers; great-grandchildren, Aleah and Abbi Byers; sister-in-law, Judy West; a host of special friends, and her dear fur baby “Sophie”.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her friends and caregivers of Hales Chapel Christian Church and Amedisys Hospice.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 PM, Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Minister Rick Kilby and Minister Jeff Neubert officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30-1:30 PM, Saturday prior to the service. Entombment services will follow at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be David Byers, Jimmy Byers, Alan Buckingham, Dennis Robbins, Jeremy Benfield, and Tim Blevins. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean & Thelma Crumley, Paul & Carolyn Puckett, Jim & Carolyn Rogers, Luke & Sue West, Pam Buckingham, Bobbi Cole, Lamar Garrison, Brenda Garst, Mary Kearney, Peggy Kilby, Phyllis Laws, Connie Neubert, Jim Pierce, Jeanne Saylor, and Millie Withers.
