Mrs. Eva Campbell Southerland, 98, Jonesborough, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2024.

Eva was born April 6, 1926, to the late Ben and Alvertia Taylor Campbell. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband Jake of 67 years on May 20, 2014, a baby sister Ruth, two brothers Houston and his wife Virginia of Jonesborough and Jim and wife LeNell, Balton Rouge, Louisiana. She is also preceded in death by brother-in-law Fred Southerland and wife Dubie and sister-in-law Esther Shanks and husband Luther.

Survivors left to cherish her memory are two sons Tony and wife Mary Beth and Mike and wife Terri. A special granddaughter Mallory Breeden (Josh), grandsons Aaron (Missy), Benjamin (Paige), James (Katie), Neal (Marcy), Justin (Erica) and Eric (Krista). She is survived by great grandchildren Austin, Olivia, Ella, Everett, Noah, Emma, Jake, Rion, Michael, Alyssa, Knox, Kennedy and Lukas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A very special thanks to long time caregiver, Alisa Collins, former caregiver Marianne Crow, and present caregivers Kathy Phillips, Dee Garst and Gina Williams. They provided such good care, and she loved them dearly. A special thank you for the care and kindness of nurses on 2023 at Franklin Woods Hospital.

Eva was a member of Trinity Baptist Church, the Challenger Sunday School class and Women on Missions. She was a former member of Bowmantown Baptist Church where she served in numerous positions including teacher of intermediates and young people Sunday School class, church clerk and secretary.

Eva was a member of the Bowmantown F.C.E. Club. She retired from the Washington County Department of Education where she was the secretary at Sulphur Springs School for several years. She had a great love for the children and the faculty which made her job a pleasure.
Eva enjoyed cooking and preparing special meals for her family during the holidays. She and Jake loved to travel and did some extensive traveling during their 67 years of marriage.

The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Friday, June 14, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Fairview Cemetery with Dr. Mark Harrod officiating. Special music by Kimberly Bailey.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.

Continued prayers for the family of Eva. She loved her family dearly & Eva, I loved you so much. We had nothing but good times together, we lifted each other up & you were such a Blessing to me. I'm very grateful to have the chance to spend time with you. I learned something new from you each weekend & definitely hated to see you leave us. I know you were ready to see your God & Mr. Jake so continue to be happy like always until we meet again. Also, Thank you Tony & Mike for trusting me with your mother.
