Betty Ward Slowey, age 87, of Jonesborough, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Four Oaks Health Care.

She was born on May 16, 1936, to the late Walter Guy and Phyllis Kyker Smith.

Betty enjoyed entering projects and working in the farm and home section of the Appalachian Fair. She loved playing rook at the Bowmantown Ruritan and the senior center. Betty was raised on the family farm where she found her love for farming and continued that until her health no longer allowed.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husbands, Daryl Ward and Les Slowey; her in-laws, Corby and Omega “Minky” Ward.

She is survived by her son, Troy Ward; sisters, Mildred White and Marie Deakins; several nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside Services will follow the visitation at Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Greg Davis officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
