Mr. Curtis Lee Stutler Jr., age 59, passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Johnson City Medical Center with his family by his side.
Curtis was born on January 5, 1965, to the late Curtis Stutler Sr. and Barbara Lee Strohl.
He was born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in a Military family by his mother and step-father, William Crowley. Curtis spent most of his life in Kansas and moved to Tennessee where he was a food service manager. He was the most loving and giving man, who would do anything for you. He would give you the shirt off his back, a definite people person. Curtis loved to bowl and enjoyed being a bingo caller. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
In addition to his father, mother, and step-father, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Carol Hahn who passed away in 2018 and Anna C. Stutler who passed away in 2019.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Bethany Callahan (Mike); step-daughter, Heather; 7 grandchildren; sister, Debra Terrell; brother, Nolan Michael Stutler.
Being the giving man he was, Curtis donated his body to East Tennessee State University for research and there will be no formal service at this time.

I knew the Stutler family since Chrissy and I were in high school. Chrissy was my roommate for awhile so I got to know the entire family. I was shocked to hear about Curtis’s passing. Sending prayers to the family.

I really don't know what to say...I met Curt at a low point in my life and he encouraged me to be the best person that I could be. He hired me to work at KFC in Kansas and we became like siblings. I then met Chrissy and we hit it off as well. The whole family made me feel like a long lost family member. We lost touch after I moved back to Ohio. We used to joke that years later I would call and get the AT&T operator on the phone (pre cell phone era) and it would be Curt and we would reconnect. He was a chameleon and could adapt to any situation or crowd. Recently I found my invitation to his wedding to K. and thought of him and Googled his name. I have to believe he was telling me that he was leaving. We never got that reconnect. The world is much darker today without Curt in it; but I know he is now free of pain. My sincerest condolences to his daughter Bethany, sister Debbie and brother Mike; as well as all that loved Curt. He was a blessing in my life and I wanted to share that with you in hopes it helps to ease your pain. Fly high my friend and may God bless you and keep you safe.

Curtis and I hung out a lot growing up and when we discovered that we both lived in Tennessee we talked about getting together in Gatlinburg. He got really sick and it never happened. I will miss you Curtie, until we meet again!
