Gloria Creagh Frye left the earth surrounded by her family and entered Heaven on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Glo was born on July 31, 1941, in Nashville, TN to Charles and Georgia Creagh. She was an athletic and competitive tennis player throughout her youth and adulthood. She graduated from Harpeth Hall School in Nashville and attended Vanderbilt University.

Glo’s home on Boone Lake with her loving husband Jack was a haven for family and water adventure. She enjoyed boating, slalom skiing, jet skiing, and tubing on the lake. She enjoyed summers with her children and grandchildren, teaching them to ski and tube behind the pontoon boat and racing them on the jet skis. Riding on the back of the pontoon boat was usually a Labrador Retriever, Gloria taking pictures and Jack driving the boat all while another grandchild saying, “Can I go next?” Gloria was an avid photographer and chronicled on film her grandchildren growing up over summers on the lake, Frye Family Reunions, and years of Fourth of July parties in their backyard. She loved gardening and making her lakeside home beautiful with flowers for all who came into the cove.

Glo loved vacationing in Palm Island, FL with Jack during winter months entertaining close friends and family. She was known as “The Shark Lady of Palm Island,” as she spent countless hours collecting sharks’ teeth and shells while she walked miles along the shores of Palm Island daily. In the fall months, she would never miss cheering exuberantly at University of Tennessee football games in Knoxville. At one game, a fellow spectator asked Jack if they would be at the following week’s game in South Bend. Jack said that they unfortunately did not have tickets to the game, to which the spectator replied, “That’s too bad, ‘cause I think your wife might actually be able to pull us through!”

As an active member of Boone’s Creek Christian Church, Glo was a vibrant member of The Joy Class, and she constantly expressed her love and appreciation for the support she found within that small group and her church family. Glo loved Jesus, her church, her family, and the photographs that she took to record the moments of her lives with all those around her.

Glo was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Georgia Creagh; her sister, Dee Dee Jansing; her daughter, Beth Hale Riemer; and her sisters-in-law, Janet, Betty, and Mary.

She is survived by her devoted and loving husband, Thomas Jack Frye; her siblings, Charlene Creagh, Ed Creagh (Jan), George Creagh (Susan), and brother-in-law Tom Jansing; her children, John W. Hale, Jr., Jay Frye (Debbie), Steve Frye, Katherine Hale English (Joel), and John M. Hale; and her son-in-law, Dave Riemer. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Duncan Frye, Kaylie Riemer Davis (Derek), Tina Manaloto (Troy), Caroline English, Sara Riemer, and Luke English; her great grandchildren, Dominic Manaloto and Emryn Manaloto; and many grandnieces and nephews.
