Mrs. Mary Lucille “Lucy” Babb, age 88, Jonesborough, passed into the arms of Jesus, Monday, January 22, 2024, at Four Oaks Health Care Center.

Mrs. Babb was born September 21, 1935, in Mitchell County, NC, to the late Cameron & Catherine Babb Cable. She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Fred Phillips, Roy Swatzell and Carson Babb, a sister, Wanda Kilgore and a precious grandson, Nick Phillips.

Lucy loved Jesus and attended church when she was able. She was kind and never met a stranger, always helping others when she could. She loved crafts, sewing and writing poetry. She loved all animals but especially cats.

Lucy is survived by her sons, Greg and Darryl (Valerie); grandchildren, Abby, Taylan (Calvin), Kendra (Landon), Madison (Tyler) and Zane; great-grandchildren, Jocelyn, Steele, Audrey, Ansley and Emory; special sister, Diane Cable and a niece, Amy.

The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 PM, Thursday, January 25, 2024, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. Graveside services will follow at 3:00 PM at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Chaplain Anna Butler officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
