In loving memory of Donald George Overbay Jr. (Donnie), Johnson City, who peacefully passed away on December 12, 2023, at Johnson City Medical Center, surrounded by his loved ones, after bravely facing cancer.
Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Don and Madeline Overbay, his brothers, Anthony and Leon and nephew, Tim.
He is survived by his brother, Lynn and sister-in-law Peggy, along with their son and daughter-in-law and grandchildren. He is also fondly remembered by his sister-in-law, Pam and her sons and grandchildren.
Donnie spent his entire life in the cherished community near Highland Church Road, close to The Boones Creek, where he found joy in the simple pleasures of life. A true Tennessee enthusiast, he passionately supported the Vols in football, basketball, and baseball, and equally cheered for the Braves and NASCAR.
A source of pride for his family, Donnie was the sole professional athlete in his clan, making a name for himself as a skilled pro golfer and contributing to the management of Buffalo Valley and Pine Oaks golf courses.
Known for his friendly nature, Donnie touched the lives of many with genuine warmth, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered as a remarkable man.
A celebration of Donnie’s life will be held at his final resting place at Highland Church Cemetery 12, Noon, Saturday, December 16, 2023, with Mr. Tony Overbay officiating, surrounded by the beauty of the land he called home.

I worked with Donnie at Pine Oaks and played a lot golf with him.
What I remember most about Donnie is that he was always upbeat and cheerful. I can not recall an instance when Donnie showed anger or portrayed any form of negativity.
I got to know Donnie playing with him in the Senior Golf League. I loved playing in his foursome on occasion. He was beloved by everyone in the league. Donnie was a jewel of a man and I will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.
