Ms. Edna A. Hughes, age 87, Jonesborough, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023, at her residence.
Ms. Hughes was born in Mitchell County, NC to the late Dan & Etta Deyton Hughes on January 9, 1936. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Leonora Webb, Ora Peterson, Belva Deyton and Aza Hughes, three brothers, Roy Hughes, Cas Hughes and Arnold Hughes and a special niece, Virginia Peterson.
She was of the Presbyterian faith.
Ms. Hughes retired from Baxter Pharmaceuticals as a QA Technician.
Survivors include her great-nephew and caregiver, Ricky McMurtry, Jonesborough; great-niece, Janice Deyton, Piney Flats; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 PM, Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Rodney Deyton and Pastor Bryant Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 PM, Thursday prior to the service.
Entombment services will be conducted 12, Noon Friday, December 1, 2023, at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Marvin Miller, Mark Miller, Robert Hughes and John Deyton.
