Mrs. Carrie “Pauline” Sifford, age 100, passed away Monday, July 31, 2023, at Lakebridge Nursing Home.

She was born and raised in Johnson City. She was one of nine children born to the late Joseph and Lou Fern Kelsey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Athol Sifford. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Lucille Love, Kathleen Perkins, Mary Stokes, Margaret Keller, and Ellen McKinney; three brothers, Arthur “Bud” Kelsey, Bob Kelsey, and Milburn Kelsey.

She is survived by her children, Barbara Leonard (George) and Vernon Joseph Sifford (Judy); grandchildren, Marcella Wheeler (Tony), George Leonard (Kim), Misty Sifford and granddaughter of the heart, Tina Hyder (Greg); six great-grandchildren, Maylee and Trey Leonard, Rebecca Austin, Kathryn Copas, D.J. Austin, and Eric Sifford; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Lakebridge and her nurses, Rebecca and Janet for the love and care shown to her. We would also like to thank Gentiva Hospice and her nurse, Heather for the care given to her in her last weeks.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Thursday, August 3, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home.
