Mr. Randy Lynn Cloyd, passed away on Friday, July 14, 2023, at his residence after being placed on Hospice care. He was of the Baptist faith.
Randy was born on April 25, 1959, in Washington County, TN. He was born on his mother’s birthday. He and his mother joked often about what they would get one another for their birthday. His reply was always; “Mom, I do not have to get anything for your birthday because you have ME!”
Randy graduated from David Crockett High School in 1977. He was employed first by Coca-Cola, and subsequently by Harris-Tarkett, by ITT North and by Hampton Printworks, all of Johnson City. In 1981, Randy began work as a maintenance mechanic at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin. He enjoyed his work but even more-so, he was a prankster and often pulled pranks on co-workers. Randy was also a master joke-teller and entertainer; he easily and frequently had his audience in stitches! His interests and hobbies were fishing, boating, golf, and mowing his yard.
In addition to his parents, Jack and Peggy Cloyd, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Billy Jack Cloyd, Jr.; grandparents, G.C. and Loretta Cloyd and Ed and Maude Treadway.
Survivors include his son, Greg Cloyd; two granddaughters, Raina and Harley Cloyd; his twin sister, Tammy Cloyd; and his former wife, Shelia Payne Cloyd, all of Jonesborough.
The family would like to express a wealth of gratitude to the staff of: Amedisys Hospice, Princeton Transitional Care, and NHC Transitional Care. Also, they appreciate care given by his Primary Physician, Dr. Rupal Shah (ETSU Health Internal Medicine) and by Dr. Farrow (Pulmonary Associates of E-TN.) Thanks also to JC Fire Department Station 7, Washington County EMS, and Landmark Healthcare. The family greatly wishes to thank his personal caregivers during his lengthy illness; Marie Britt, Joyce Bennett, Priscilla Blevins, Jeannie Turner, and Visiting Angels.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Telford Cemetery Association, INC. in care of Jerry Douglas, 63 Ponderosa Lane, Telford, TN 37690.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be at 2:00 PM, Sunday, July 23, 2023, at Telford United Methodist Church Cemetery, with Brother Steve Ferguson officiating.

Tammy, I can remember how happy your mom and dad were when you and Randy were born. After losing a baby, they felt doubly blessed with the both of you. My sympathy to you on his passing - especially at such a young age. God bless you!
Tammy i want you to know you are in my thoughts and prayers. I have always admired you for the way you loved and took extreme care of your family in good times and hard times. I did not know Randy well, only met him a couple of times but he was always so nice and smiling. His picture resembles you so much. I miss seeing you and talking with you. Take care and hope to see you soon.
Dear family I wish to extend my condolences. Randy and I hired in together at NFS, we were not only coworkers but friends as well outside of work. Everyone liked Randy, sad to hear of his passing.
I went to school David Crockett High School with Randy and Tammy Cloyd many years ago. I remember them and their parent as being the nicest and most sincere people that I ever met.
