Doug was a "Great Man" in more ways than words can describe. His greatest love was for "The Big Man Upstairs" who Doug was in constant conversations without ceasing. Doug knew, loved, praised and served God, the Father of all Creation with joy and dedication. The "great love of his life" was his wife of 55 years Lib, who together truly were one. Dougie, his son, the great love of a parent could be seen in Doug's eyes when he proudly spoke about the "pride and joy" of his life. Doug gave one-hundred percent to anything that belonged to him, he was known for his immaculate yard, every blade of grass stood at attention! His home was a showplace of dedication to detail. Doug owned award winning classic cars that were the envy of many car show goers simply because of his immaculate care. He enjoyed camping, spending many happy days with his family and friends. Doug proudly served his country with Honor, Valor and Dedication. His service in the U.S. ARMY, during the Vietnam war left him with lasting reminders written on his heart, lungs, and soul. The sacrifices he made during his service so that we may live free were in the end the "Ultimate Gift". I believe from the bottom of my heart, if ask again to serve, his answer would have been a resounding "YES" a thousand times over. Doug was more than a neighbor to us he was family by choice. When I say us, I am speaking not only of Jimmy and myself, but of our son Matt Rowland, daughter-in-law, Brandy and granddaughter, Brylee. Doug was one of those folks who quietly took a special place in your heart just by knowing him. Our lives were blessed by having known you, we will greatly miss you, Doug. Love you, always & forever.
