Lynn Ellyn Julian Green

01/16/2023

Lynn Ellyn Julian was born on January 31, 1944 in Pineville, Kentucky to Ruby Ellen “Warfield” Julian and
Oscar Lee “O.L.” Julian. Soon after, a brother was born into the family, John Austin Julian (DeAnna
Julian). Lynn grew up in the coal camps of Black Star, Kentucky and graduated from Black Star High
School in 1961. She married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Kenneth Harlan Green,
in 1962. She attended Eastern Kentucky University where she received a Bachelor's Degree in Education
and a Masters Degree in School Counseling. She had one son, Kent Julian Green, the absolute apple of
her eye. After her college graduation, and a brief stay in New Richmond, Ohio and Cumberland,
Kentucky, Lynn and Kenneth moved to Johnson City to build a life. She worked for Johnson City Schools,
as a diagnostician, for over 30 years. Lynn was often admired for her hard work and excellent
attendance in her position. She was truly dedicated to her profession and built strong and lasting
friendships with the people she worked with. Throughout her blessed life, Lynn cultivated many lasting
friendships including “The Gus Crew”. In 1995, Kent married Dana “Mullins” Green and she gained a
daughter, as she said many times over the years. One of the happiest days of her life was when her first
granddaughter was born in 2002, Macie Ellyn Green. This was followed by another one of her happiest
days when Kenley Danielle Green was born in 2005. Lynn became a fun and loving “Nonnie” who
planned lots of fun activities and sleepovers for her “girls”. She also loved taking them on trips, boat
rides on the lake, picnics, cookouts, and cruises. Lynn lived a happy, healthy, and fulfilling life. Lynn was
a free-spirit and a world traveler. Her favorite place to visit was New Orleans and she visited often, and
in retirement, built a beach house on the Gulf Coast to be near her favorite city. She spent lots of time
making new friends in Ocean Springs, MS. Lynn accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was a teen
and was baptized into her faith. She was actively involved in Boones Creek UMC for many years. She
was most recently a member of Marvin’s Chapel UMC. On the morning of January 16, 2023, Lynn
peacefully slipped from the loving arms of her husband of over 60 years into the loving arms of Jesus.
She was surrounded and comforted by her loved ones. Lynn lived out her faith and knew she would see
her family again as she entered into eternity. She was comforted in the knowledge that she was going
“home” to those loved ones who have gone before her and the assurance that she will see her earthly
family again someday. Because of His promise, we will be reunited with her! Lynn is survived by her
husband, son, daughter-in-law, 2 granddaughters and her sister-in-law. In addition, she is survived by a
very special nephew, Zack Julian (Faith) and baby Zachary Austin Julian. Family and friends are invited to
celebrate the life of Lynn Ellyn “Julian” Green at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home on Thursday, January 19.
The visitation will be from 5-7 pm with a service at 7 pm. A very special thank you to nurses Sierra
Freeman and Haley Wade.

My sincere condolences to the Green family on Lynn’s passing. I am building on the lot next door and had the privilege of spending some time with Lynn over the past couple years. She was always very welcoming and interested in what was happening. I have missed seeing her. I am sorry that I will not be attending her services this evening but will certainly have you all in my thoughts and prayers. Ken if you found a bowl of fruit in your storm door, I left it there on Tuesday. I did not have a pen to leave a note. I had Pam Jones with me and we just wanted to make a condolence visit. Hope the critters didn’t get into it. Sharon Blankenship

Lynn always brought me such joy and smiles with her bright colors and of course her red shoes which I know God got a good laugh when he welcomed her to her heavenly home. We were truly blessed to have both Ken and Lynn build a home in Ocean Springs so we could get to know them, spend time together and be apart of the Halfway Home Sunday School Class. Both Ken and Lynn hold a special place in my heart and I am so glad to have been a part of their time in Ocean Springs. Love ❤️ you both dearly
