Dr. Pennington saved my infant son’s life in 1980. Ryan was 2 years old when Dr. Pennington operated on him to correct Tetralogy of Fallot. Just 6 days later my son was up running the halls of Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. My son is now 46 years old. Dr. Pennington was God’s gift to us. He will be missed.
The Emling family is thankful for God leading our father & husband to Dr. Glenn Pennington through Dr. Dean Sauer in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Dean Sauer told my father, " You are the nearest dead man that has ever came in my office." Dr. Pennington saved his life! We thank your family for sharing Dr. Pennington's time to help mankind.

Prayers to the family. Dr. Pennington saved my life at the young age of 5. I’m now 46; he not only saved my life, but helped my parents…who at the time, were so young and needed guidance. He sent a nurse out every hour to ensure that my life was in good hands. I never had the opportunity to thank him as an adult. His legacy lives in my heart (literally). God bless his beautiful soul.

My thoughts and prayers go to Glenn’s family as I was just trying to find Glenn and let him know how much he has meant to my medical career since I was his surgical intern during my first month of internship in July 1969 at the Lallie Kemp Hospital in Louisiana. His positive influence will remain with me always. RIP Glenn.

Dottie, I'd heard about Glenn but just now read the obituary. My Ben died in June, so we've both entered that never-wanted sisterhood that somehow binds us together. I still remember seeing you when we lived in Biloxi at the same time...and watching your children take some salt to snails that were bothering them! And then Ray's daughter's wedding.... A beautiful time! You are in my heart today.

I knew Glenn and his parents, Earl and Lynn in Ackerman many years ago. Earl graduated in 1956 with me. I am so sorry for your loss and read in the obituary that Earl had passed away also. I did not know this. They were both wonderful people and will be greatly missed.
Dottie and family,
It is with a heavy heart that I am sending you my sincere condolences. Dr. Pennington was one of the most admirable and gracious men that I have ever known. He truly was a southern gentleman. I have the utmost respect and admiration for you both.

As a Cardiovascular technologist specializing in pediatrics with over 40 years experience...it was an honor to work with Dr. Pennington. I considered him a scholar, teacher, great surgeon and a sweet Christian man and Doctor. He will be greatly missed.
He was my mother’s cardiac surgeon in 2001 for her CABG procedure. He came and spoke with me every day for three weeks during her hospital stay. Surgeon, scholar, author, professor … one man who improved many lives.
To Dr Pennington's family
We was sorry to read about his passing our daughter was born November 6th 1997. And had a heart defect and had open heart surgery at 3 months old. In Winston Salem by Dr Michael Hines we was there 5 months and Dr Pennington would be doing rounds and checking on her. Then when he came to Johnson City Medical center he done a pacemaker change on her. Her Dr here was Dr. Ananda and she was with Katelyn till about a year ago. Dr Pennington was a great person our daughter will be 25 in November. We didn't think she would have a baby. But we have a granddaughter that'll be 7 months old the 30th. And is healthy as she can be our daughter was lucky to have amazing doctors. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers during this time. R.I.P Dr Pennington
