Mr. Charles “Yates” Baird, age 78, Kingsport, passed away Saturday, August 13, 2022, at Orchard View Rehab Center.

Mr. Baird was born in Carter County and the son of the late John Frederick & Letha Ann Yates Baird. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Garst Baird.

He was a United States Air Force Veteran.

Mr. Baird was a retired mechanic for the Kingsport Press.

Survivors include his wife, Jewett Murphy Baird, Kingsport; son, Robbie Baird and wife Laurel; stepchildren, Rhonda Ragsdale and husband Ed and Robin Gray and husband Lee; grandchildren, Camden and Braxton Gray; sisters, Peggy, Patsy and Betty.

Graveside services will be conducted 12, Noon, Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Maple Lawn Cemetery with Pastor John H. Moore officiating. Family and friends are requested to meet at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home at 11:45 am to go in procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

I am sorry to hear of Yates' passing. We were coworkers, friends, and masonic brothers. He was kind to me when I needed kindness. I thought of him just a few days ago, although we had not spoken in several years. My condolences to his family.
