Mrs. Dorothy Lowanda Russell Shepherd Constable, age 84, passed on July 3, 2022. She was born March 17, 1938 to the late Robert and Thelma Grace Russell. A beloved mom and Mamaw to many, her favorite thing to do was care for those around her. She was the beat cook and tried her best to pass that kill down to her daughters, she always made sure her loved ones were fed and used this as a way to express her love. Her children feel very privileged and honored to have her as a mother and she has left a void that can never be filled. Some of her favorite things were the color pink, roses, Reese cups, Yoo-Hoo, baking bread, Travis Tritt music and gathering with her family.

Lowanda was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Thelma Grace Russell; her four siblings and their spouses, Robert “Bud” and Helen Russell, Jean and Ima Jean Crouch, Bill and Pat Walker, Jay and Shirley Dye, and Jimmy Russell; her first husband and friend John “Pappy” Shepherd; her second husband and love of her life Charles Papaw “Charlie” Constable; and her first child Ronnie Lee Russell.

She was survived by her only living sibling and her spouse Horace and Barbara Hollifield; her mother-in-law Olene Constable; her brother-in-law Oliver and Myra Constable; five children and their spouses 9If truth be known she liked our spouses more than her actual children, but of course, they have all been in her life since our teenage years, 40 plus years)… Richard and Robin Shepherd, David and Debra Taylor, Floyd and Thelma Pate, Donald and Tammy Hamilton, and Mark and Mary Simmons; six grandchildren , Anthony and Marsha Sheppard, Montana Hamilton, Jonathan and Sue Hamilton, Joshua Pate, Mathew Pate, and Angelina and Donny Russell; seven great-grandchildren Justice Proffitt, Liberty Sheppard, Katlynn Yates, Gage Columbia, Trinity Hamilton, and John “Lil Jon” Hamilton; three great-great-grandchildren, Jackson Harper, and Bentley. She was blessed with a very large family who will miss her dearly but are thankful for the many years they had with her.

Graveside service for Mrs. Constable will be Wednesday July 6, 2022 9:00AM at Cherokee Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Sheppard, Montana Hamilton, Jonathon Hamilton, Matthew Pate, David “Byrd” Taylor, Donald Hamilton, Mark Simmons, Floyd Pate and Honorary pallbearer Richard Shepherd.
