Mrs. Delta Faye Buckingham, age 84, Gray, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Johnson City Medical Center.
Mrs. Buckingham was born in Gray, Tennessee and the daughter of the late Cecil & Ruby Brown Fitzgerald. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Buckingham, a brother, Darrell Fitzgerald and a sister, Erma Marbry.
She was a member of Hales Chapel Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Vicki Hite (Tony); two sons, Charlie Buckingham and Danny Buckingham; brother, Dale Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Ashley, Amber, Audra, Whitney, Chloe, Dylan, and Caleb; several great-grandchildren and nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be conducted 6:00 pm Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Hales Chapel Christian Church with Minister Randall Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends from 4:00-6:00 pm, Saturday prior to service.
Graveside services will be conducted 3:00 pm Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Gray Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
I worked with Delta in the 1970's at Appalachian Christian Village-we both were nursing assistants. She gave excellent care to the patients and had such a sweet spirit to everyone. I had not seen her in many years, but she was a person you always remembered fondly. I am so sorry for the loss to her family and friends. They are in my thoughts and prayers today.

Delta was a sweet woman and a good neighbor. We looked out for each other in our small neighborhood. She was a good Christian woman who loved the Lord and her family. When she saw us outside she would always wave or come to the fence and talk awhile. She will be missed.

I sat on the same row every Sunday at church. I loved to talk to Delta. She was so sweet. She was a faithful Christian lady. She will be missed.
Delta was my mother's home health caregiver for a time and she was so wonderful to her and to our family. I am so sorry to read about this and will be praying for her family. I pray she received the great care that she so willingly gave my mother. We loved her.
My sincere condelences on the loss of this lovely lady. I worked with Delta in homecare in the 80's. She carried such dignity and warmth. This time, heaven truly got one of its angels back.

I always enjoyed stopping by and talking to Delta when I would walk by her house when I was walking my dog. We always talked about the old times in Gray. My condolences to her friends and family and to Dale. We have been friends and neighbors for a lot of years.
