Dorothy had always told me that one of her greatest satisfactions was the fact that we had a large family of 3 brothers and 2 sisters with extremely supportive parents. I was able to visit Dorothy on 13 June and we had a grand time. We talked about old times, shared family pictures, and she avidly followed all the conversations going on all around her. This time together with Dorothy became a true blessing as it was the last time I was to see her in this life. I would like to compliment my niece Mandi and husband Shawn for their diligent care of Dorothy during these last few years. Their love and devotion during these trying times is a great inspiration to all of us. So in closing, I will leave you with this last story. When I was around 4-5 years old, my sisters Dorothy and Trishia would use the bible to teach me how to read. And one of my favorite stories was about the resurrection of Lazarus, which I am sure many of you are familiar with. The sisters of Lazarus, Martha and Mary had requested Jesus come immediately and were heartbroken when he finally did arrive because Lazarus had already been dead for four days and was in the tomb. Martha said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. But even now I know that God will give You whatever You ask of Him.” “Your brother will rise again,” Jesus told her. Martha replied, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in Me will live, even though he dies. And everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die. Do you believe this?” Dorothy believed this to be true!

So sorry to hear of the passing of Dorothy, my prayers are with you and family.

Dorothy was a huge part of my young life, I spent many days and nights in her kitchen with Mandi, playing being silly and eating fresh veggies out of her garden. Thank you for all of the memories you are loved and missed.

I was Dorothy's sister-in-law for many years and loved her zest for helping others. Her love for everyone was amazing and she was a wonderful friend to me. Melvyn, her brother adored her so much and she was his right-hand many times in life. She will be greatly missed. Now she and Melvyn can be together in that wonderful place called Heaven with the Lord. My heartfelt sympathy for her sweet daughter Mandi and her husband Shawn and their wonderful family Nicole and Isaac. May God grant you peace and comfort at this most difficult time in your life.
