Mrs. Claudia Nanette Keys Callahan, age 69, Chuckey, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at her home.
Mrs. Callahan was born in Limestone, TN and the daughter of the late Earl & Bertha Keys. She was also preceded in death by her husband, David Callahan, two brothers, Dana Earl Keys and Kim Gray Keys and a sister, April Keys Kingrey.
She was a member of Erwin First Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mrs. Callahan was a member of the banking industry for over 50 years. Nanette was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Jonesborough. She had a love for animals especially horses. She loved to hike, antiques, festivals, her flowers and her grandchildren.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Heath & Becca Haney, Fall Branch, Cecil David, Jr. & Kristi Callahan and Stephen Earl & Jessica Callahan, all of Jonesborough; grandsons, Dawson & Kaleb Callahan; two sisters, Stephanie Moore and Rachel Kraus; two brothers, Chris Keys and Jamie Keys; special friend, Michael Stanley, Jonesborough.
A special thank you to Amedisys Hospice Care of Elizabethton for the outstanding care, love and compassion they have shown.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Monday, December 28, 2020 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Pastor Charlie Bird. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Monday prior to the service. Please follow CDC guidelines, wear masks and social distancing.
Interment services will be conducted 1:00 pm, Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Sulphur Springs Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be family & friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Washington County Humane Society 2101 W. Walnut Street Johnson City, TN 37601.
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am a cousin on the Keys side of the family and just came across this obituary while researching Nanette’s dad, Earl. Nanette was beautifulâ€"she was a second cousin of my mother’s. I wish I could have known her. To the family I send my sincere and deepest sympathy along with love and prayers.

Our deepest condolences for your family. We met Nannette in the same way I'm sure many people met her through the bank. My wife and I were first time homeowners and thanks to Nannette's advice and commitment we were able to purchase our first home. Whether she realized it or not she instilled in us knowledge of the things that they don't teach in school. I will never forget we were talking on the phone one day and she said,"you're gonna have to decide if you want to eat out or pay your house payment." I will always remember that and pass that very good advice down to my kids. I pray that God grants you peace of mind and peace of heart.
I was truly blessed to have worked with Nanette in the mortgage business. She was not only a working associate, but a friend as well. I’m so sorry to learn of her passing and my thoughts and prayers are with her family for this tremendous loss.

Heath, David and Stephen, I have never had the opportunity to meet you, but your Parents and I went through grade school and high school together. They were both such wonderful people! I smile as I remember Your dad's mischievous grin as he put paper wads in my hair in the 6th grade. Your mother was a Kind, Gentle woman. A couple of years ago, we saw each other. Deepest Sympathy and Prayers to the family of our dear precious friend. I have known Nanette several years through banking and she had always been so helpful to us when we were buying new homes.. through this she became a very dear precious friend. She loved and stood by her family no matter what. Her husband David worked with my brother David at CSX and was still alive to show his respects when my brother was diagnosed with a brain tumor and passed 2014.
Spent much time on Facebook with Nannette after she was diagnosed with her illness only to pray that she could overcome her illness. Our hearts are so saddened to hear of her passing, but we can rejoice in knowing that we will be with her once more. Heaven certainly gained an angel because that’s what she was. We loved and appreciated her dearly.
To her family our prayers and thoughts are with you and praying that God that God will give you the peace that passes all understanding.
Nanette was a very loved member of our church family. She was a very special lady and she will be missed very much. I knew she is in Heaven rejoicing and is no longer in pain, may knowing that being you peace and comfort.
To Heath, David & Stephen. I loved Nanette so much. She was a very special lady and will be missed tremendously. We worked together for several years and had a special bond. I know she loved her family dearly. I am deeply sorry for your loss.
