John Joseph Villanueva, 68, went to his heavenly home on November 16,2020 at Johnson City Medical Center due to covid-related pneumonia.
John was born in Chicago, Illinois and moved to Tennessee in 1986. After a tumultuous childhood and young adulthood, he gave his life to the Lord on November 15, 1994 and never hesitated to share what God had done in his life. He was a member of Hopwood Christian Church where he assisted in teaching Sunday School. John was also active in the Kairos Prison Ministry and the United Emmaus and Sonrise Emmaus Communities.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador and Cecilia; his brother, Salvador; and former wife, Joyce. He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Karen; sister, Rosemary (Valentin); brother, Mike; and sons David (Ash), and Phillip. In addition, he is survived by nephew, Luis (Norma); nieces, Aurelia and Angela; and sister-in-law, Wanda. John had 7 grandchildren who he loved with all his heart: Azlan, Remadi, Aviendha, Ariya, Melodie, Vanelle, and Skye.
