Mrs. Ethel Marie Davis, age 85, Johnson City, went home to be with Jesus Wednesday evening, September 2, 2020 at her residence following a brief illness surrounded by her loving friends and family.
Mrs. Davis was born in Shady Valley, TN and the daughter of the late Nelson and Hazel Lowe. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Rev. Robert Davis, four brothers and three sisters.
Ethel was a homemaker, a job she took great pride in. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a devoted Christian and loved to attend church and sing the songs of Zion. She was a pastor’s wife for 47 years.
Mrs. Davis was a member of Boring Chapel Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years.
Survivors include her sons, Bob Davis, Limestone, Jerry Davis and wife Lora and Rev. Steve Davis and wife Linda; grandson, Chris Davis; granddaughters, Pamela Pepper and husband, Joshua and Dorothy Hurt and husband Daniel; three great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted 8:00 pm Friday, September 4, 2020 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Bailey and Rev. Eddie Mc Amis officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
Interment service will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Cherokee Free Will Baptist Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Davis, Jacob Hurt, Daniel Hurt, Gary Dowell, Jim Odum and Jed Dickey. Honorary pallbearer will be Joshua Pepper.

We are very sorry to hear about Mrs. Ethel’s home going. She was a very Godly woman, filled with the Holy Spirit. We met her many years ago and enjoyed her stories about her family. May God bless her friends and family. We just found out about her passing but we will all see her again!

I met her at church. When I was there, we talked until we started singing and preaching. She was a sweet lady that is was a pleasure to have known her. I'll miss seeing her at church when I get to go, however I know she will always be there in spirit. She will be with us all in our hearts.

Mammaw will be greatly missed by many!!! Her light has shined on people her entire life!!! She loved the Lord so much!!! She loved reading her bible, singing, cooking, spending time with her family, friends, and her precious dog sweet pea!!!! She loved doing and giving to others!!!! She showed me the most love I have ever known!!!! She loved to come to South Carolina and stay with Josh and I!!!! I’ll miss her sweet smile and advice!!!! I’ll miss our long talks on the phone daily!!!! If I could be half the woman she was, I’d be happy!!! She was my best friend in the whole world!!!!! I’m so thankful to have had her in my life all these years!!!!

A very precious saint of GOD has gone home she was so precious I've been in this family from the day I was born she was my Momma's best friend we traveled many miles for the LORD JESUS CHRIST and Robert and Daddy preached and they sang but she's not suffering now and we can see her again if we live right I love you all dearly

ETHEL WAS MY PRECIOUS, WONDERFUL LOVING FRIEND FOR MANY YEARS. THERE IS NO WAY I CAN EXPRESS THE LOVE THAT WAS BETWEEN US DURING THE YEARS I HAVE KNOWN HER SHE WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER. SHE WAS SUCH A GREAT CHRISTIAN LIGHT TIME. I WILL LOVE HER FOREVER.
