Mr. James D. Good, age 81, Johnson City, passed away Saturday August 22, 2020.
Mr. Good was born September 26, 1938 in Washington County. He was the son of the late Paul & Edith Good. He was also preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Rebecca Ann Good a sister, Gailya Couch and a granddaughter, Carol Singletary.
He was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church, Jonesborough.
Mr. Good was a United States Army Veteran, having served during the Korean War, where he met life-ling friends, Ken Sells and Arlie Eanes. He worked for Sperry, then Holston Defense for ten years and Eastman Chemical Co. for twenty-six years. After retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren, hosted an annual pig roast for Eastman friends, farming and tobacco, lover of tomatoes, and a good joke. He had such a giving spirit.
Survivors include two daughters, Judy Hensley (Bill) and Karen Smith (Steve), all of Johnson City; sisters, Mary Ellen Ward, Jonesborough and June Taylor Portland, TN; one grandson, Joey Smith; and several nephews and nieces.
The family would like to thank the nurses on 3300 at Johnson City Medical Center, Dr. Grosserode, family, church family, friends at Johnson City Farmer’s Market, and Eastman friends for their wonderful support.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Dillow-Taylor Funeral Home with Dr. Mark Harrod and Rev. Robert English officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm Thursday prior to the service.
Interment services will be conducted 11:00 am Friday, August 28, 2020 at Washington County Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Shannon Tipton, Mike Hensley, Joey Smith, Larry Benefield, Tony Maden, Bell Ferguson and Brad Ward. Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Releford, Jerry Tilson, Jim Leeper, Mickey Archer, Pete Kilbourne, Darlene Ervin, and friends from the Johnson City Farmer’s Market.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, Jonesborough Building Fund, P.O. Box 99 Jonesborough, TN 37659 and/or Kari’s Heart Foundation 701 N. State of Franklin Johnson City, TN 37604.

Jim was one of the most likeable people I have ever known. We cut firewood together, along with Ken Sells, for several years. He always had a story to tell, some of which might have been true.
I know he will be in many other's thoughts as well for years come. He was a very special person.l?

My dad, Ronnie Minga, and Jim were close friends. I always remember Jim as a very good and kind man, who was a true friend, and who always wore a smile and always had a joke and a bag full of fresh tomatoes to share. My condolences to his family and friends. God bless you.

Just found out that my best friend for over 35 years passed away this past Sat. night. Besides being my best friend, he was also my neighbor. He was 81 and we spent countless hours together over the years. His name is James D. Good. Jim was a rare kind of man, he never talked badly about anyone. He was kind hearted and he spent many days helping another friend at the farmers market. Jim used to drop off tomatoes,apples and other items on my front porch when I could not get to the market. He would just leave them in a bag and quietly drive back home. And he loved my little dog Compo so much, and Compo loved him. Compo would climb on his lap and lick him, and he knew the sound of Jim's old truck when it drove by the house. And he would run around barking hoping Jim would stop for a visit. Jim would see Compo when he was outside in our yard, and he would pull over next to our fence, and talk to Compo who was jumping for joy just to see him. I apologize for the long post, but Jim's death came so suddenly and was a terrible shock to me. RIP Jim, you are finally back with your loving wife Becky who went before you several years ago.

Jim was a truly wonderful person and friend to us and we are going miss him but he will be in our thoughts and hold a special place in our hearts forever. Becky and him always loved my Christmas cookies and looked forward to getting them. I stopped to see him alot and also at the market.
